Restaurant Dubrovnik may be closed for good
RESTAURANT Dubrovnik has closed its doors while its owner ponders the future of the Assiniboine Avenue institution.
After a routine closure in January, the upscale restaurant did not reopen.
Owner Milan Bodiroga said he will decide by the end of March whether to reopen the restaurant, which occupies a desirable riverfront property.
In 2007 and 2008, city council granted preliminary approvals for a plan to demolish the property and build a luxury condo-and-hotel project in its place.
But the $60-million luxury project -- which was supposed to feature 27 condominium units, 40 hotel rooms, a plastic surgery clinic, a sushi bar and a robotic parking system -- failed to proceed due to sales and financing issues, according to officials familiar with the proposed tower.
