An hearing will be held later this month to determine who can participate in the inquest into the death of young man who died in a Winnipeg Police interview room.

Wilfred Lesley Asham, 19, died Sept. 2, 2007. He and another man had been arrested after they attempted to flee from a stolen vehicle that crashed near Elgin Avenue and Jordan Street.

Asham collapsed after he was taken to an interview room at the Public Safety Building. An autopsy determined the cause of death was probably cardiac arrhythmia.

The hearing will take place May 25, 10 a.m., court room 408 at the Law Courts complex.

The province said at the hearing, the inquest judge will determine who can question and call witnesses.

Anyone who wants to receive standing for the inquest should attend the hearing.
