  • Print

A fire early today that destroyed a south St. Vital home is believed to have started in an attached garage.

Firefighters responded to a call on Knotsberry Bay just before midnight.

The occupants had fled the home by the time firefighters arrived. There were no injuries.

There was smoke and water damage throughout the single-family home and the attached garage. There was also damage to two vehicles in the driveway.

The Winnipeg Fire Department estimates damage to the home at $300,000 and $60,000 to the contents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
